Water vapor retrieval from OMI visible spectra
There are distinct spectral features of water vapor in the wavelength range covered by the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) visible channel. Although these features are much weaker than those at longer wavelengths, they can be exploited to retrieve useful information about water vapor. They have an advantage in that their small optical depth leads to fairly simple interpretation as measurement...
متن کاملWater vapor absorption of visible and near infrared radiation.
Water vapor error function absorption coefficients for visible and near ir radiation have been recalculated from experimental transmission data. The error function absorption coefficients and the resulting transmissions as a function of precipitable water vapor are tabulated for wavelengths from 0.2 micro to 1.3 micro. Comparisons are made between computed and measured spectral transmittances.
متن کاملNear-real time retrieval of tropospheric NO2 from OMI
We present a new algorithm for the near-real time retrieval – within 3 h of the actual satellite measurement – of tropospheric NO2 columns from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI). The retrieval is based on the combined retrieval-assimilation-modelling approach developed at KNMI for off-line tropospheric NO2 from the GOME and SCIAMACHY satellite instruments. We have adapted the off-line syste...
متن کاملWater vapor in Titan’s stratosphere from Cassini CIRS far-infrared spectra
Here we report the measurement of water vapor in Titan’s stratosphere using the Cassini Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS, Flasar, F.M. et al. [2004]. Space Sci. Rev. 115, 169–297). CIRS senses water emissions in the far infrared spectral region near 50 lm, which we have modeled using two independent radiative transfer codes (NEMESIS (Irwin, P.G.J. et al. [2008]. J. Quant. Spectrosc. Radiat...
متن کاملWater vapor isotopologue retrievals from high-resolution GOSAT shortwave infrared spectra
Remote sensing of the isotopic composition of water vapor can provide valuable information on the hydrological cycle. Here, we demonstrate the feasibility of retrievals of the relative abundance of HDO (the HDO/H2O ratio) from the Japanese GOSAT satellite. For this purpose, we use high spectral resolution nadir radiances around 6400 cm−1 (1.56 μm) to retrieve vertical column amounts of H2O and ...
